KS 500 D is Kathmandu Steels’ Fe 500D grade TMT reinforcement bar, available in sizes from 8 mm through to 32 mm.

The D grade keeps the same 500 N/mm² minimum yield strength as Fe 500 but is rolled to a tighter chemistry and a higher minimum elongation, so the bar absorbs more energy before failure. That extra ductility is what makes it the preferred choice for seismic detailing, heavily congested reinforcement, and structures where bars must be bent and rebent on site.

Key Benefits of Kathmandu Steel (KS 500D)
A. Earthquake-Resistant Design

Specifically engineered with high ductility to withstand seismic activity, making it ideal for construction in high-risk earthquake zones.

B. Superior Strength & Material Savings

Delivers high load-bearing capacity for heavy-duty structural applications while reducing the overall volume of steel required.

C. High Chemical Purity

Formulated with strictly controlled minimum sulphur and phosphorus levels, minimizing harmful impurities to enhance structural integrity and weldability.

D. Enhanced Corrosion Resistance

Protects against aggressive environmental conditions, including coastal zones, areas with brackish groundwater, and industrial regions exposed to toxic gas emissions.
